The Mercer County Radio
Control Society is a chartered club of the Academy of Model Aeronautics.
Our focus is radio controlled flying models, but the range of models we fly is
quite broad extending from small electric plastic foam models through
giant-scale wooden models with wingspans as great as sixteen feet. We fly
at Warren Kruse Field on the edge of Lake Assunpink in the Assunpink Wildlife
Management Area near Imlaystown, NJ. We usually meet twice a month on
Wednesday evenings at 8:00, most often at the West Windsor Branch of the Mercer
County Library located at 333 North Post Road in Princeton Junction. (See
the calendar on this website for dates and locations.)
Membership is open to
anyone who would like to fly radio controlled airplanes. Currently we have
about 160 members residing across most of central New Jersey and part of
Pennsylvania. If you are new to the sport, come by our field any Saturday
or Sunday afternoon to see what this sport is. Or come to one of our
events or training programs. (They’re listed on this website.) If
you like what you see, come to a meeting and apply for membership. If you
are already an RC flyer, just come to a meeting to apply. We encourage
prospective members, who are AMA members, to fly as guests at our field, as long
as they are accompanied by a current club member.
You will see from our
website that ours is an active club, sponsoring several events each year.
Our Jumbo Jamboree is a giant-scale air show, the proceeds of which are donated
to the Sunshine Foundation. Our annual flight school program is intended
to encourage members of the general public to take up the sport. Other
events and activities promote the sport and enhance the enjoyment of club
members and other RC flyers. Members are encouraged to participate in
these activities.
