2024 MCRSC Bomb/Parachute Drop Contest

After a 2-week delay for illness, the 18th Annual MCRCS Bomb/Parachute Drop Contest took place on October 27th.   It turned out to be a beautiful day with sunny weather and low winds, although the winds did have an effect on some small planes. Temperatures started out cold in the high thirties but warmed to the high fifties.  We had a good turn-out with 10 entrants in the Bomb Drop but only 3 entrants in the Parachute Drop.  This was the year of the sail plane as they seemed to do very well with the flying conditions.  Two pilots tied in the bomb drop competition which called for a sudden death round as they were competing for an FMS RTF F4U Corsair.  Brian H. edged out Johannes with a bullseye making it very exciting for the pilots as well as the on-lookers. We also had a good number of non-participating members watching on as well as our special guests,  members of the Bob Soden family.  Bob Soden's family previously donated RC Estate items including a trainer aircraft to a Junior Member.  They also brought cookies, candy, and other dessert items for our luncheon.  Brian B. and Irwin cooked up hot dogs and hamburgers with Jim supplying all the fixings.  Contest Coordinator was Carl Gubkin again but we also need to thank Irwin, Jim and Brian B. for setting up and making lunch. Muhammad was also a big help in tracking everyone's drops as well as assisting in taking pictures and videos of the flights!
